Senior Software Engineer

Remote (Florida) Full Time Experienced Engineering
Apply for this position

We're building a product at feature[23] from a blank slate, and we need a senior engineer who wants to help make architecture calls, not just implement someone else's. This is a green-field build on .NET Core, Angular, and Azure. There's no legacy code to untangle or shortcuts to work around. Real ownership over how the platform is put together.

About feature[23]

When complexity is high and the cost of getting it wrong is real, feature[23] partners with middle-market companies to turn critical business initiatives into proprietary digital platforms that drive operational and competitive advantage.

About the Role

Twelve months from now, the person in this role will have architected and shipped the core of this platform, established the coding standards and patterns the rest of the team builds on, and be running point on how it performs in production on Azure. You'll work across the full stack, from SQL Server schema design through the Angular front end, and the calls you make early will shape this codebase for years.

What You'll Do

  • Own the architecture for a brand-new product built on .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server. There's no existing codebase to inherit, so the decisions you make now are the foundation.
  • Design and build the Angular front end alongside the backend services, working across the full stack rather than handing off at a layer boundary.
  • Stand up the Azure infrastructure and deployment pipeline the team will build on as it grows.
  • Set technical direction for the engineers who join after you, including design patterns, code standards, and architecture decisions.
  • Work in a Kanban flow with product and design, balancing in-flight priorities without a rigid sprint cadence.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including at least one project where you built a system from the ground up rather than extending an existing one.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with C# and .NET Core (.NET 6+) building production web services and APIs.
  • Strong SQL Server experience: schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience building modern single-page applications with Angular.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Solid grounding in object-oriented design and software design principles (SOLID, common design patterns).
  • Comfort working in a Kanban/Agile environment, and communication skills to explain tradeoffs clearly, in writing and in conversation, to both engineers and stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience architecting a product from zero to one, not just maintaining or extending one already in production.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
  • Exposure to microservices patterns, Azure Functions, or event-driven architecture.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical design discussions.
